Under the slogan that translates to “Cinema from the Heart of Upper Egypt,””Qena Cinema Days” ‘s first edition will be held in the city of Qena at the Tanweerat Cultural Center from February 25th to 28th. ” Qena Cinema Days” will feature the 3 directors, Ahmed Abdullah, Aida Al-Kashef, and Kauthar Younis as the film jury in the official competition of the event which aims to promote filmmakers from Upper Egypt and provide an opportunity to showcase their cinematic experiences to the public.
Out of 120 films submitted, 20 short films were shortlisted and will feature at the official competition , with filmmakers from all Upper Egypt governorates competing. Additionally, six films will be screened on the sidelines of the events. This edition is dedicated to the late Qena native screenwriter, Youssef Johar.
