The Sudanese Amjad Abu Alala and the Iraqi Abbas Fadel are members of the jury at the Berlin International Film Festival

The festival announced the jury members for its 74th edition, scheduled to take place in the German capital from February 15 to 25, 2024. Kenyan-Mexican actress and producer Lupita Nyong’o will chair the International Competition jury.

Arab cinema is well-represented in the juries, with Sudanese director and producer Amjad Abu Alala participating in the jury for the “Generation” competition for children and teenagers’ films. Additionally, Iraqi-French director Abbas Fadel is part of the jury for the Best Documentary category.

The juries comprise a diverse group of prominent figures from the global film industry, representing various regions and cinematic trends. The International Competition jury includes artist Brady Corbet from the United States, Chinese producer Ann Hui, German director Christian Petzold, Spanish film artist Albert Serra, Italian producer Jasmine Trinca, and Ukrainian director Oksana Zabuzhko.
