Following its impressive success at the El Gouna Film Festival, director Amr Salama’s film “Sixty Egyptian Pounds” is gearing up for a new venture on the global cinematic stage, with its international debut set for the Fribourg International Film Festival in Switzerland.

Notably, it marks the first time a short film opens an Arab film festival. “Sixty Egyptian Pounds” takes us on a poignant journey into the life of Ziad, a teenager navigating a world rife with domestic violence. As Ziad seeks refuge from this harsh reality, he discovers solace in crafting song lyrics as a means of self-expression and healing. With familial pressures mounting, Ziad makes a daring decision to aid his family and pursue success and happiness.

The film features a talented ensemble including Ziad Daza, Tarek El Dweiri, Hamza Diab, and Rouhia Salem, all under the direction of the accomplished Amr Salama.
