Submissions to the “AFLAMUNA” initiative for independent resources are now open!

The doors are officially open for submissions to the “AFLAMUNA” initiative for independent resources until April 7, 2024. This initiative welcomes individuals, groups, and emerging organizations in the realm of independent Arab cinema to share their innovative projects, seeking support for training programs, production, distribution, and archiving. This initiative is geared towards individuals, groups, and emerging organizations in the field of independent Arab cinema.Each selected project will receive a development grant between 2,000 and 4,000 EUR and will be accompanied by experts through the development process and towards realizing a full proposal and financial plan. All project representatives will also be brought together in an online lab to share their ideas and benefit from peer-to-peer learning and feedback.The grant will not be spent on film production directly but on research, training, or any initiative that reimagines film productionREQUIREMENTS:The application will require a detailed description of your initiative and its role within the independent film ecosystem. Individuals will be required to share their CVs, and collectives and/or organizations will be asked to submit their institutional profiles.The application will also ask you to select the area within the film ecosystem the initiative tackles:Capacity-building: everything related to training and knowledge sharing for filmmakers and film technicians.Creation: everything related to making films, from development to post-production.Distribution and Exhibition: classical and alternative distribution, exhibition, audience-building, and outreach.Networking and Visibility: from festivals to markets to co-production platforms and anything in between.System-memory: research, archive, and documentation.Basic Infrastructure: the groundwork, from financing and funding to legal matters and advocacy.It is worth mentioning that AFLAMUNA is a cultural nonprofit organization that works to harness the power of independent Arab cinema to elevate the most pressing social, political, and cultural movements of our time.
