CARTHAGE INDUSTRY DAYS / TAKMIL WORKSHOP : A SPACE FOR AFRO-ARABIC CINEMA TO PROSPER

For its 33rd session, Carthage Film Festival announced the edition of an industry platform called CARTHAGE INDUSTRY DAYS’ that seeks through the ‘TAKMIL’ workshop to be a core venue for the festival, for filmmakers, producers, financiers, and distributors to get together and exchange ideas and experiences through seminars and lectures. In addition to enabling the winners from the African and Arab world, to participate in the workshop. To receive grants to help complete their films
Carthage Industry Days is divided into two sections : Carthage Industry Takmil Workshop, dedicated to supporting Arab and African filmmakers in finishing their film projects, and Carthage Industry Talks, aiming to expand their network through a series of panel discussions and master-classes with European professionals to approach the most important topics of the film industry in Africa and the Arab world.
During three days, 08 feature fiction and documentary films in the post-production phase, will compete for the grants and awards. That will be attributed after the conclusion of the (Takmil) workshop, and during the Carthage Industry Days Awards Ceremony. The selected film projects are : « Spring Came on Laughing », Narrative Feature from Egypt by Noha Adel. « Defying Ashes », Documentary Feature from Kenya by Karanja Ng’endo. « A Summer in Boujad », Narrative Feature from Morocco by Omar Mouldouira. « Rough Sea, a Tuareg Story », Documentary Feature from Mauritania by Intagrist el Ansari. « Life Is a Railroad », Narrative Feature from Democratic Republic of the Congo by Kevin Mavakala and produced by Dieudo Hamadi. « God’s Captivating Face », Documentary Feature from Tunisia by Mohamed Ben Romdhane and produced by Marouane Meddeb. « Mouvma, Poets Like No Other », Documentary Feature from Tunisia by Ines Ben Othman. « Le Roumi, Un Film à Ressusciter », Narrative Feature from Tunisia by Ferid Boughdir.
The selected film projects will be held in front of an International Jury comprised of : Jury President, Karim Hammouda, Chief Editor and teacher at the Higher School of Audiovisual and Cinema in Gammarth. Ahmad Shawky, Egyptian film critic, programmer, screenwriting developer and the Middle East head of development of « VIU » streaming platform. Hicham Falah, cinematographer, writer-director, producer and programmer.

Carthage Industry Days will be held from the 2nd until the 4th of November, 2022.
