UNESCO Supports a Project to Train Young Palestinians to Produce Films on Social Issues

The Palestinian Ministry of Culture announced the launch of the ” Cinemati” short film project, which aims to train young Palestinians to produce films that focus on gender issues. The project comes in cooperation with the National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, and with the support of the UNESCO World Organization.
The initiative targets Palestinian youth from different universities and specializations, where they will undergo intensive training on the production of films that highlight gender issues. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Culture, the project aims to provide young people with the opportunity to use technology and social media to achieve social change.
Regarding the initiative, the Director of the General Directorate of Arts, Walid Badawi, stated that this project is an opportunity for young Palestinians to contribute to achieving social change through the use of social media and cinema technology.
Badawi added that the ministry intends to reach young people in the West Bank, Gaza and the Palestinian community abroad, using innovative means that include modern interactive tools. The Ministry also aims to integrate gender issues into the art of cinema, stressing that cinema is an effective means of transmitting information and raising community awareness
