Egyptian Actor Jamil Barsoum Passes Away at 70, Remembered Following Festival Tribute

The cinematic industry mourns the loss of the Egyptian actor Jamil Barsoum, today, Monday, March 4, 2024. After a battle with illness at the age of 70. This loss comes just days after Barsoum was honored at the Catholic Cinema Center Festival.

Peter Daniel, the director of the Catholic Cinema Center, announced his passing, describing him as “wonderful, kind, and humble.”

Born in the Beheira Governorate, Barsoum studied at the Higher Institute of Agriculture before transferring to the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts. Despite a delayed rise to stardom, he shone in various artistic works, including the films “The Blue Elephant” and “El Gezira 2,” among others.”
